totally agree how can they even think of taking new teams on,even if some leave it will help the ref situation weve had 7 games this season with no ref, even though our manager refs them to high standard it always turns into a farce,, |

i agree totally to, no more teams until we can cover the ones we have ,i think every one should get behind this as this season been a struggle for refs and its going to get worse,,,a smaller league is fine weplayed 6 cup games this year and didnt even enter essex cups.. |

I agree we should cover all the games with ref and 10 teams per league would be perfect. |

we have 10 teams now really we should be looking to reduce it to 8 really,i m not talking about kicking people out ,but if clubs fold like last year a few did dont take any new ones on that way t..he quality of the league will improve |

I can see why you would not want new teams added, especially but I think that new exciting teams would make a big difference to the league. Build up the reputation and maybe the referee's will return. You have a no nonsense swearing policy this coming season, so that should help too. It will be easy to set up a new division with all the teams that I know have already applied to enter Corinthian league this coming season. (This would be why Coral FC would not want this, as they would be relegated, sour grapes lads or what).

We will be honest we would hate to be kicked out of this league. We where a newly formed team this season and even though we haven't had a great first season, we can only hope to improve. We have a pretty good disaplinary record and feel that we get on pretty well with most of the other teams. We only wanna play football like everyone does. We was lucky and given a chance in this league last season so i don't see why new teams shouldn`t be accepted but if you cut the league down to 8 then some teams will only play 16 games. Is that really fair? I know this season hasn`t been the best for weather but look at our record we are only short of one game and would of been completed if it hadn't Snowed so heavy in April. |

16 league games and 2 cups let alone essex cups isnt that enough games ,no one wants less teams but we must have enough refs for teams otherwise its stupid |

its a tough one coral have finished there season cos there not very good , but look at frenford, valentin etc desent teams that do well in the cups and prob essex cups they have 6 or 7 league games left .only double headers wii sort that out and there a joke soits a tough balancing act maybe teams should only be able to enter one cup a season .... or scrap league cup and keep trophy land and corintian or scrap them two and just have a league cup for each div ...... |

It seems a general consensus that no-one wants more teams and everyone wants more refs. It is a message I will pass on. What we don't need however is to have a higher authority refusing our right to exclude clubs with disciplinary issues, as this is what drives the referees away. We have lost two because of recent events and believe it is four, although this is not confirmed by the other two officials. Unfortunately this scenario is exactly what happened last week when our decision was overturned by ECFA and a team previously excluded are back in. What chance have we got of getting new referees when we are not allowed to govern our own league? |

i have just read your messages about no more new teams 1st players& teams should have a look at there selves about the lack of refs over 7000 will stop this season alone 2nd instead of moaning about refs every team should have a player that is a ref just incase they need one for there game that way the games could get played and teams behaviour should improve as the player can explain to his team how hard it is to ref every team should be allowed to enter a league if they are good enough & have a good disaplinery record |

Peter, Whilst I support some of your sentiments about the referee situation, the bottom line is we just don't have enough referees anymore. And it's got beyond the point where just the 'bad boys' suffer, everyone does. There are clubs with excellent discipline records who don't get referees for more than half of their matches. So it kind of stands to reason that you must cut your cloth to suit and if that means no new clubs than I'm afraid so be it. |

Just wondering looking at the situation, would it be possible to kick out any teams with bad discipline to encourage ref's back. I know that you had the situation with the Essex FA. Surely it is within the league rights to not except them next season. Am sure all clubs would rather you removed the badly behaved teams and they would back you all the way to increase ref's for next season and show any new teams that are allowed to enter the league that you are in charge. |

Of course you are right, but I’m afraid recent experiences prove this isn’t as easy as it sounds. As a league we have always given teams a chance to improve their disciplinary record if it’s poor. If the position becomes untenable we have to act to remove a disruptive team. For reasons I can’t begin to fathom a higher authority who you would think would be right behind us look for ways to prevent us from cleaning up our league. The only reason I can think of is that they fear we are being too harsh on some teams in wanting them out of our league, but believe me, no decision we make is a rash one. We will always endeavour to change the situation before we act. There are several teams in this league who have been in trouble with us in the past, but have managed to turn the corner with our help and become much better members of our ‘community’ of teams. Unfortunately some can’t be turned and leave us with no option. If only others could see it this way…… |

weve had about 5 games this tear with o ref and one of our players do the game as fairly as any ref is maybe even harsh on his own team ,,,and every time the other team has caused major trouble accusing of cheating etc ... it does get the game on but it doesnt work..reducing league or cups is the only way forward til we have more refs than games each week simple answer |

to peter fisher ,, why should all new teams that are good enough and have good dis be allowed to join the league, surely your duty is to provide the current teams with refs every game not make it worse ..the league is better of with 32 teams all with refs and plenty of weeks to get games done than 40 odd or more with 5 games a week turning into a farce with no ref... and secondly if you think one of the players who ref the game to get it on would ,get more respect your sadly wrong ,and should go watch some of these games explode,,, |

Sorry, totally wrong! Senior and Premier Division teams get no more referees than Divisions 1 or 2. It's not how we operate. We have always observed that Division 1 and 2 teams are better supported in cup finals and the players tend to be (but not always) younger than those in the Senior and Premier. This age gap is probably the reason you see more messages from Divisions 1 and 2 than from Senior or Premier. |

Well, there is a council meeting on May 7th and I will print off some of the messages for the management. It is useful to see what most clubs feel about it. I understand we have had some (not many) new applications and I feel we should possibly look at one or two, but only to fill gaps at the Senior Division, where we have lost 3-4 clubs. But I agree that we don't want any more around 1 - 2. |

** Update On New Teams ** Just to let you know I have spoken to Stan about this subject, as it seems the clubs' wish that we reduced the number of teams until we can support them with referees. Stan has indeed had several new applications, but here’s the problem – application forms from existing clubs are meant to be returned by 1st April. Well, we are at the end of the month and so far only 12 teams have re-applied for the WHOLE LEAGUE. He tells me that each season at least two and often more teams do not re-apply, but this is serious. To put it in a nutshell, if you don’t get your forms in soon your wish will be granted and the league will be smaller – but not the way you wanted it to be! |

sounds fair give all teams a deadline say may 14th or end of season then that gives new teams plenty of time to sort out other options if there not accepted ,,,really teams should no if there competing next season by may and failure to respond will be there own fault |
