Resignation Withdrawn

Just a note to clubs who have backed the league. I have decided to withdraw my resignation and reluctantly concede that errors made by the league have led to the re-instatement of Elan FC.

In between the two cup finals at Thurrock on 27th April we met with Phil Sammons, chief executive of Essex FA and I could only conclude that county were left with no choice but to overturn our exclusion, as our paperwork was not in order.

Let me assure you that we will put things right and any club who commits serious levels of poor conduct will not be in the league, but we as officers of the league must take some blame for the current situation.

Phil also made it clear that ECFA never favour clubs, leagues, or referees in any appeals, they only act as arbitrators. Why? Well, some leagues officers are often also secretaries and managers of clubs within the league and sometimes when they try to exclude a rival club it is because they have a hidden agenda to benefit their own teams.

We should know this better than most, as this league was formed in 1986 from the South Essex Sunday League when 32 member clubs resigned and formed their own league (this one) as some of the management refused to take action against an alleged rogue team because they were strongly represented by the league’s own management. So as you see in 22 years nothing has changed!

On our league with just one exception, none of the management has any connection with any teams, so we have neither a vested interest in a club or for that matter an axe to grind. We just have to accept that in this case we got it wrong, but it’s a wrong we can put right.

And finally thank you to those clubs and individuals who have made me feel I should continue for the sake of the majority and not resign for the minority.

Re: Resignation Withdrawn

very glad to hear your not going to resign because finding people who are prepared to give up there time in order to make our league stronger is not easy
ECFA don't relise that without people like you and the other commitee mambers they would not have the positions they have now
perhapse it is time that the old school that runs the ECFA took on some new younger members who are more in touch with what is really going on on sunday mornings with some of these teams/players
