When I said history between posters I was referring to previous posts made on the forum not personal friendships. Previously they're had been some heated postings made by various posters and this I assumed this was what Happy was referring to, when she replied to my post about people being shot down about their views and named certain posters (again im assuming it was you they meant if not I apologies for my assumption).
We then had a post which again im assuming was aimed at Happy, which ive taken my own advice and ignored the ongoing messages as it seems to be stirring up another hornets nest.
Your right its a public forum and people are entitled to express their views/make comments etc but, I might be in the minority in thinking that criticism can only be positive ifs its constructive and not just made to antagonize or upset.
I personally don't see the point of this especially as like you've already pointed out that we don't know each other personally or our personal circumstances and I don't see why anyone has to defend their relationships etc.
I had actually said to Happy that I think it would be a positive move if Happy shared her story as it seemed one of the minority success stories though that's up to her or anyone else if they wish to do so.
I don't agree that the rainy season is to blame for the lack of postings, you only have to look on other Gambian forums to see that theres regular postings been made,though this month and previous months although the season may have contributed.
I think its a shame that people are saying they feel intimidated posting here. As the GTS has been designed for the support for tourists and I think has done a great job in doing so and I personally think that it is here that 1st time visitors and old hands could probably get a more 'honest' (for want of a better word) answer.
This forum to the best of my knowledge is not edited or post removed like some of the others.
However I do agree if there are issues between posters maybe its better if they do take it to private mail and leave the forum for what its designed for advice/comments and questions xx |
