Because Thomas Cook aren't flight only operators! They want you to book a package holiday 1st time and every time. The only way you get a "cheap" flight is when they can't sell their holidays.
Whereas Budget Airlines ( and I didn't single out Ryanair, I mentioned Easyjet too!) concentrate on the flight only deals which has effectively driven down the cost of European travel significantly.
What TG needs is more flights, to take up the unused capacity in hotels and guest house and provide more income and associated benefits fo TG people.
Also we might then see more regional departures and break the current duopoly enjoyed by TC & TGE |
