I think there may be a much bigger market for flights there but there's effectively a monopoly at the moment. Even Ryanair is capable of monopolostic practise because they are, eg, the only carriers direct from London to Brindisi in southern Italy, where t'other half's parents live. In high season they charge upwards of £300 return, which I think is a little high.
At the end of the day, Jammeh is behaving like an idiot at the moment. Even if some avaition entrepreneur saw fit to open up a route, they'd be a bit put off by what's going on there at the moment. What right-minded person would want to invest in a country where the 'president' wanted to kill people just because he didn't agree with them? |
