Help needed with website writing projects!

Corps alums have identified a number of ideas for additions to the Corps website... but we need help in getting these written. Some research is needed, some phone calls, and writing a draft.

Our editor, Cheryl Young, can take these materials and complete a website addition. She is already working on some great material submitted by Wayne Mounsey.

But more help is needed to get these ideas moving. Your help can greatly improve our Corps website and Corps History.

Review the following list and let us know if you can hep with this effort!!!

Thanks! Dave Borck
----------------------------------------------

Here is the list so far: CURRENT CORPS WRITING
PROJECTS

TOP PRIORITY ITEMS:

1. Early Days Update … has been drafted by Wayne Mounsey (2/06)

2. World's Fair story: description of one of the early major appearances of the corps (1933/34). Completed by Wayne Mounsey

3. Update the 1970s segment of the History ... Keith Normandin & Bob Shreffler are already working on this, but could use writing help.

4. Winning the first State Championship!! Add interviews and more pictures!

5. 1970 Corps Bus accident in North Carolina (contacts are available for interviews).

OTHER IDEAS FOR ACTION:

1. Interview past corps managers, Presidents, staff and instructors for useful stories and facts to add. People like Jim Fidducia, Jack Hausheer, Bob Briske, Greg Grana, Hank Grana, Dick Brown, Brian Pennington, Jerry Davidson, etc.

2. VFW National Champion Color Guard in 1962!! .. interviews and pictures.

3. 1961 Cadets AMVET state and national championships.

4. "Uniforms of the Corps through the years"- mostly a pictorial feature. Include the design of the new "battle jacket" uniform in 1962, linked to pictures.

5. Improve coverage of Cadet Corps history; pictures, stories, accomplishments, people, events. (1961 AMVETS National Champions! etc.)

6. Report on the "Martin Luther Cadets" mini corps (1960s) .. John Anderson submitted some Forum postings on this, which could be the basis for a short
piece in the Special Memories segment.

7. The "near death" of the Corps in 1953 (Dale Bowman has info on this!)

8. Norwood Park Military Balls, run in the early 1950's by the Corps Girls! Talk to Wayne Mounsey and the 1940's-50's Corps Club! Special Memories?

9. Report on 1940's-50's "Corps Club": Wayne Mounsey wrote an excellent summary for the Alumni Forum, but this could be added to the History or a "special memory".

10 1965 fight at World fair with local street gang

11 Article about switching to chrome horns in 1965: impact on the corps look, music.

12 Use of "Rudimental Bass Drums" in 1966. This would be a story mostly of interest to drummers, but would "educate" the others!

13 The time the corps (Len Szulc, et al) transported an illegal (for Canada) alien into Sarnia, Ontario on a corps trip there.

14 Highlight selected alumni with "then and now" stories.

15 Stories about Corps family dynasties (like the Gill's, Biver's or Grana's).

16.Stories of some special alums: Glenn Jorian, Tom Day, Richard Enger (first drum major). These could be added to the Alumni Center .. either as additions to the "Alumni News" feature or as a new feature titled "Alumni You Should Know".

What did you do in the Corps? drummer 1959-63; quartermaster 1964-66; assisant instructor 1964-70

What years were you a Corps member? 1958-1963
