Funeral report

Tom Day, Bugles Across America founder, assisted recently at the funeral for the family of a NP family. Here is his report:
---------------------------------------

I got to the cemetery early as I always do and meet two Navy men who were there for an earlier Funeral. Since they did not have a bugler I volunteered to play for their funeral as well.I figured Live is better than a digital thing. They agreed and the Family was very happy.

The Navy men left and two more showed up for Joes funeral. I breifed them on the procedure and when the funeral arrived they were outside to salute and escort the casket inside.

It was a beautifull day. The Funeral Director actually read the sermon and did a good job.
When he was finished I anounced that the Military part of the ceremony would commence.
Also explained that the three vollies were loud, so please be aware.
I fired the M1 and had 3 empties already polished for placement in the folded flag.

Then I picked up the G bugle, the same one that was used for the President McKinley funeral a sounded Taps.

The flag was folded and presented and then I presented a flag case in the name of Drum Corps people from Chicago.

I also gave a plaque with the Medal of Valor attached. I gave a few Rememberance Medals to the family and 3 dvd's of the Kingsmen to John . Then I collected the American Flag and Navy Flag I had pre-posted and my other gear and left for home so I could meet Julies van from Helping Hands rehab center.

I think the ceremony went well. I left at 1pm and was at home in the country of Berwyn by 1:50
