CONGRATULATIONS

Yes! Congratulations to Phantom for winning DCI 2008. Regardless of the merits of their field program in anyone's eyes, winning is a major achievement for the corps.

Also note that several other DCI corps have posted congratulations to Phantom on their web site home pages. The Holy Name Cadets (alumni) have also done so.

It is only fitting and right to do so.

I know I cheered my head off for them, that night, in person. I was thrilled for them. I had just been drinking with their staff, quite accidentally, the night before, yet. Nice folks! Even if they are a gang of throat-slitters.

So I've been told, so I went to their website to check... sure enough... only in the forum section do people offer their congratulations. They ought to put us on their staff, so we could set em straight. Yes, they really ought to put it on the website's home page, indeed.

The Cavaliers were the only corps to congratulate Phantom as they left the field.

Throughout the entire awards ceremony / retreat, the entire Cavaliers corps all marching, single file (instruments in hand, hats on), over to file thru the ranks of the Phantom Regiment, with all the hand-shaking and hugging and congratulating that took place amongst all those two corps members -- THAT was the most moving part of the whole ceremony. Really something to witness, as a drum and bugle corps fan! Yes, The Cavaliers did, indeed, congratulate the Phantom Regiment, alright! Big time!

From The Phantom Regiment website (report on DCI in Bloomington):

Phantom Regiment congratulates all the corps for a terrific season, but especially the Blue Stars for their return to the top 12 for the first time since 1979 and Blue Devils, Cavaliers and Carolina Crown for the tremendous shows they had all summer long.

And a special thank-you to the Cavaliers for their kind gesture of congratulations after the show.
