ANNIVERSARY, ALUMNI AND ALL AGE CORPS

There have been some posts recently about some of this. These corps exist in various forms these days. Some basics seem to be:

The ANNIVERSARY corps exists only for one year, for a special event .. such as a corps major anniversary
(Madison and Cavaliers) or special event (as with the Royal Airs, the induction of Sie Lurye into the DCI Hall of Fame). As such, they approach everything as a short term venture, including membership.

An ALUMNI corps is planned to exist for many years, as an ongoing group. These can be primarily members from one corps, or from several.

The RA started as a "one time" corps but decided to keep going. The Cavaliers recent anniversary corps was just for their 60th anniversary, (so far). But, some of these members might join the Classic Cavaliers. Who knows where that might go?

Note: anyone who has gone to the DCA sponsored "Alumni Corps Spectacular" at the annual DCA Championship show will tell you that these corps can be spectacular!

There are also ALL AGE corps (generally 18 or over). These exist without specific corps backgrounds. I think that the Minnesota corps and the Kilties fall into that category. (?)

But, there are some people who believe that the ALL AGE corps arena is the real future for drum corps (not just 'traditional' drum corps, but ALL drum corps). This due to funding, time constraints, availability of members, etc.

What did you do in the Corps? drummer

What years were you a Corps member? 1958- 63
