DRUM CORPS ALUMNI GATHERINGS

Some years ago, a group of Royal Airs alumni started a MONTHLY gathering ... "Pizza Night". Over the years it has "morphed" into a gathering of alumni from many Chicago area corps. :)

See their notice (below) for the upcoming meeting. Plan ahead too ... the third Tuesday of every month.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

DRUM CORPS ALUMNI
THIRD TUESDAY OF THE MONTH PIZZA NIGHTS

The 166th consecutive Third Tuesday of the Month Pizza Night will be held tomorrow night, October 20th, 2009, 7PM at The Pizza Joynt, located at 39 W. North Avenue, Northlake, IL - just west of Wolf Road on the south side of North Avenue

(708-562-5334).

Come and have some great pizza along with some spirited talk about drum corps today, yesterday and tomorrow. Please deposit $8.00 into the kitty to help pay for the pizza, pizza tip and our room. Pay our waitress as you go for your drinks & other eats you order. Anyone out there with a DVD or Video player is asked to bring them along.

Last month, Out of Towner’s Mickey Graeber (Norwood Park Imperials & RARC and many others) and Larry Caro (Royal Airs & RARC and more) were in town and came by to visit with some of the alumni from Ardennes, Norwood, Grenadiers and the regulars. Larry will be marching with the Anaheim Kingsmen in the Oct.31st Halloween Parade. On Nov. 1st, Larry and Mickey will join the Kingsmen at Rainbow Harbor for a 3 hour brunch/cruise to celebrate the accomplishments of the Kingsmen Alumni and Kingsmen Senior Corps. All Drum Corps Alumni are welcome to join the cruise. The Kingmen Senior Corps are also hosting an open house on December 6th. Join them if you live out there or are out that way that weekend.

The Vanguard alums are having a party Friday night, November 13, 2009 at the Real Time Sports Bar, 1120 W Devon In Elk Grove Village (847-534-5000). Vanguard Bill O’Connell’s great “One Foot in the Grove” Rock Band will provide the entertainment. Mary Lou Naples Johnson of the Vanguard has sent us a bunch of records from Fleetwood and other studios, featuring many corps of the 60’s along with some Al Hirt recordings. We are working on converting them onto cassettes or CD’s for your enjoyment.

The Drum Corps Alumni Western Dinner of the Month is held on the last Sunday of the month out in Los Angeles. Contact Cavalier Jim Costello at jimc@west.net more info.
