PLAN FOR DCI IN THE FUTURE : VAUDEVILLE!

The recent posting thread started by John Tomaszek about the changes in the Madison "Scout" program made me think:

Why not just give up the pretense of local connections and membership for DCI corps?

All DCI corps could SHARE a few practice facilities ... on a time share basis. Would save a lot of $. Maybe the Indiana facility used by Star for "MIDWEST" corps? Etc.

All DCI corps could also share staff, volunteers, etc. They would serve DCI.

Since none of the corps really represent any area, they would now be free to just give "appearances". No need for contests any more .. just "shows"!

And, they could continue to be nomads, just traveling around the country .. like the old vaudeville people did!

Re: PLAN FOR DCI IN THE FUTURE : VAUDEVILLE!

Dave,

Hasn't most of that happened already? Corps staffs have become like the old B corps-A corps system in the past - they start with the lower corps then move up. The corps are nomads all summer. Very few host a "home" show anymore, and even then it may have nothing to do with where the corps is from (like the Cavaliers' show in Texas).

What did you do in the Corps? Snare; Drum Major; Drum Instructor/Arrnager

What years were you a Corps member? 1970-73; 78-79
