We have not done well on having IMPERIALS alumni gatherings, but here is an interesting alternative: gatherings of alumni from all the Chicago area corps! 
Chicago Area Drum Corps Alumni gatherings:
In 1996, a monthly gathering for Royal Airs alumni was begun by Rich Tarsitano and Ed Roberts. Rich and Ed were in the Grenadiers and Skokie Indians prior to becoming Royal Air instructors back in the 50’s and 60’s. Since then a few or many have met to share memories and make new friends every 3rd Tuesday of the month.
Then, the Royal Airs Alumni corps was formed in 2002 and a lot of people joined, many NOT from the Royal Airs junior corps.
Since then, the monthly meetings have expanded to include people from many area corps. In fact, this has really become a Chicago Area drum corps gathering! ALL are welcome!
Here is the notice about the latest meeting:
The 14th Annual Third Tuesday of the Month Christmas Pizza Night will be held on December 15th, 2009 7PM at the Pizza Joynt, 39 W. North Avenue, Northlake, IL (708-562-5334). Please donate $8 per person when you enter our room. The donation pays for the pizza, tip and our room and any leftover money helps cover the cost of the postage and printing for these newsletters. Pay the waitress as you go for your drinks and any other food you prefer.

As this group expands into a bigger area corps alumni activity, they are looking at additional possible events for all corps alumni in the area:
1. A 2010 drum corps alumni picnic …… possibly in late August
2. a drum corps alumni bus tour of Chicago…or a Chicago River
tour…
3. a drum corps lunch (cheap) at Russell’s or Buona or ???
4. drum corps breakfast gatherings (some already exist in a few
areas)
5. a trip to the 2010 DCA Sunday (senior championships and
alumni corps show) in Rochester, maybe with a visit to Bob
BellaRosa’s Drum Corps Hall of Fame in Brooklyn.
In addition, the Third Tuesday of the Month Pizza Nights may feature an corps of the month such as Norwood in February, Cavies in March, Phantom in April, Royal Airs in May, etc.
Several Imperials alumni have already become regulars at these meetings too! Sounds like fun!
More on this as it develops. This might become a great ongoing activity.
