Drum Corps in the Rose Bowl Parade

I know there has to have been more, but the only corps I remember seeing in the Rose Bowl Parade was the Hamms Indians. I have to admit that I really don't watch this parade religiously but it got me thinking about how few drum corps you see in nationally televised parades.

Re: Drum Corps in the Rose Bowl Parade

The Marines might have sent their drum and bugle corps a couple of times instead of their band, but I don't remember any others. The Macy's Thanksgiving Parade occasionally had them (both Hawthorne corps marched together one year - they were all the same age anyway - a 1975 reference there). And the Midwest All-Stars marched a few times (members from all midwest corps).

Re: Drum Corps in the Rose Bowl Parade

Back in the mid-1960s I recollect seeing Blessed Sacrament, Garfiled and Hawthorne in the Macy's parade. I believe all three of them might have been in the 1963 parade. Funny I remember that parade as it was right after the Kennedy funeral. Since all the college football games were cancelled the previous weekend (only the NFL played), I also recollect that Illinois played Michigan and won the Big Ten with a guy named Butkus playing center and middle guard and Jim Grabowski from Taft playing fullback.
