MAY 18 AREA CORPS ALUMNI MEETING

Imperials alumni:

We are planning an Imperials event at the May 18th "3rd Tuesday" area corps alumni meeting. We plan to donate our collection of about 125 drum corps magazines (from 1950 to 1980). These were donated by several Imperials alumni for use at our alumni meetings .. which we really never have done! (Our IMPERIALS alumni don't seem to be motivated to attend corps alumni events.)

These magazines are really great (all are in good condition and are well preserved.) The alumni attending each meeting would (I think) really LOVE to look through them. They can see references to, and pictures of, their corps .. as well as all the other corps of their era.

By the way, Imperials alumnus Roman Blenski (brass, 1958 - 1963) says he MAY bring his collection of old time bugles along with him on the 18th. This sounds already like it's gonna be a great Norwood Night! They will plan to have this as "Norwood Pizza Night"! This could be a fun night!

As we have said before, a growing group of area "old time" corps alumni (1950s thru 1970s) meets every third Tuesday of the month for corps fellowship, stories and great pizza. The average attendance at these meetings is about 25 or so. A number of Imperials join them occasionally .... about a half dozen have become "regulars".

Plan to attend and meet other Imperials friends! Bring along any DVDs or other corps memorabilia you'd like to share with the group. If you have old drum corps magazines you'd like to donate to the collection, bring them too!

DETAILS:

Where: Perry’s Pizza Joynt, 39 W. North Avenue, Northlake, IL (708-562-5334). On North avenue, IL #64, just west of Wolf Rd .. about ½ mile EAST of Interstate 294. It is on the south side of North Ave.

When: Third Tuesday of every month. Starts at 7:00 PM.

Plan: Donate $8 per person when you enter the meeting room. The donation pays for the pizza, tip and the meeting room. Any leftover money helps cover the cost of postage and printing for group newsletters and costs. Pay the waitress as you go for your drinks and any other food you order.

Re: MAY 18 AREA CORPS ALUMNI MEETING

Well, Ruth and I attended the meet. "Older Sarge" (Wayne Mounsey) also attended to handle the presentation of items to the group. Wayne also brought along an enlarged copy of the 1934 picture of the corps at Norwood Park School.

Fellow Imperial alumnus Roman Blenski attended (with wife Susie) and he brought along his impressive collection of old corps bugles! The group really enjoyed that.

Imperial alumni Frank Grana and Wally Falardeau (1960s) joined us as well! We all had great fun meeting with friends from other corps. Good friend Larry Case (Ottawa Crusaders and CSJA M&M judge) also attended.

Re: MAY 18 AREA CORPS ALUMNI MEETING

Bob, the brass folks enjoyed the display and Roman's explanation of changes over the years. Of course, if we did an review of percussion & drum technology changes over the years, they would say: BORING!
