Sad News

Lois Donnelly (Linquist) lost her battle with cancer this week. Wake will be held Tuesday at Cumberland Chapels. 6/2/10 8300 West Lawrence Av. Norridge IL. from 3pm to 9pm.

Re: Sad News

Larry,

Lois who marched rifle in the 70's? If so, that is incredibly sad. Do you have more details? I didn't realize she had been ill. And is the Donnelly related to the Norwood Donnelly's, also from the 70's?

I certainly know these things happen, even to "young" people like us. But that never eases the pain or the shock. My thoughts and prayers certainly go out to her family.

Re: Sad News

Lois was a great person to be around, she always made people laugh and she had a smile that made others smile. I was lucky enough to march with her in both the Imperials and a color guard during the winer competitions. Her and my sister were very close, she will be missed by all that knew her.

The thoughts and prayers of all in the Imperials family are with the Lindquist and Donnelly families at this sad time.

Re: Sad News

I was very sad to read about Lois. I really liked her when we were in the guard together. She was an absolutely awesome rifle. She was so strong. I remember at one parade, she went up to some Army soldier who was with other soldiers who were going to march the parade. She asked to see his rifle. It was something old and very heavy (an Enfield? I dunno). Anyway, she twirled, spun, and flipped that gun like it weighed about 8 ounces. Then she gave the rifle back as if nothing had happened! That soldier's eyes bugged out of his head!
I'll never forget it.

Re: Sad News

My Dad used to say Lois could spin a side of beef!

And I remember you, Mary Lou, and Barge, though I was so young I doubt you remember me at all.

As for the overage guys...we were kind of known for that during that period. I guess because we weren't very competitive at the time, nobody really paid much attention.
