Drum Corps 2012

Gosh .. change has continued. Surprise!

Lots of new developments .. ALL AGE drum corps are becoming quite popular. As are ALUMNI corps. The new Small Drum Corps Association
provides a venue for small corps .. alumni, all age, community, whatever .. to meet and perform.

DCA (senior and alumni corps) continues to do well. DCA allows "all age" corps to compete ..so the Cadets formed a "Cadets2" corps to compete there. They will focus on weekend only activities, unlike the DCI (grand) "touring" corps!

What will result? Who knows. But... let's hear your thoughts.

Re: Drum Corps 2012

This all sounds great, and a possible way to increase the presence of drum corps as it was in the "good old days." But I wonder if it's too little, too late? Although, if there's a call for it enough the DCI and DCA are at least looking into it, then maybe there is.

What did you do in the Corps? Snare; Drum Major; Drum Instructor/Arranger

Re: Drum Corps 2012

I don't think that DCI wants anything to do with all-age, alumni or "small" corps.

DCA is smart enough to see them as ways to increase visibility and participation in their shows.

Check DCW to see the rather amazing growth of these corps.
