Interesting information about our founder, scores and information about the 1950s, 1960s (some audio segments from different shows including competitions from the 1950s, 1963 Dream, 1965 Nationals). The podcast glosses over the 1970s but interesting information overall.

Very enjoyable broadcast! And they didn't just gloss over the 70's - they basically ignored it! And I guess on a national scale, that is appropriate. But it's a shame, because we didn't just "survive" through the decade - there were times that we thrived. Corps were dropping like flies during the decade, but not Norwood. We overcame a devastating bus crash and continual money problems to win State Fairs and State AL/VFW Championships during those ten years. And yes, it was when the DCI-calibre corps weren't there, but at that time there was another level of drum corps operating quite effectively, and being the "best of the rest" was nothing to sneeze at. If you consider the top corps of the 50's and 60's (which included Norwood), and then look at who was still around into the 80's, the list becomes very small - but still includes the Imperials!

An excellent point Bob. Survival was something that many corps failed to achieve in those days. Yes, there was another level of drum corps then... and it seems to be coming back now.
