Bruce Tietgen

For those of you who haven't heard, Bruce Tietgen passed away this week. Bruce was Drum Major of the Cavaliers in the late 50's/early 60's (lead them to their first several national championships), and later was on the mangement team of the corps. He started as a snare drummer. I'm sure I met him during my time with the corps, but I don't really remember. However, I also saw him this past October at the Cavalier Snare Drummer Reunion, and he was in bad shape (brain cancer). However, he did manage to stand for a few minutes and actually played some paradiddles with us! Reminded my of drumming with my Dad that last time, when he didn't even know who I was.

Drummers never stop drumming!

What did you do in the Corps? Snare; Drum Major; Drum Instructor/Arranger

What years were you a Corps member? 1970-73; 78-79

Re: Bruce Tietgen

1. Bruce was an awesome DM

2. Bob, I think the correct phrase is 'drummers never stop diddling'.
