Re: Norwood in Latest Drum Corps World Paper

Not a bad picture. That was a good year for the Imperials ... good placing. Next year, State Champions!

Note that corps were still small in those days.

Here is a report about that contest:

1955 AL - MIAMI, FL

Scores: again, 1 contest, no prelims. (16 corps competed)

1. Blessed Sacrament Golden Knights, Newark, NJ 92.683
2. St. Vincent’s Cadets, Bayonne, NJ 91.833
3. Holy Name Cadets, Garfield, NJ 91.283
4. Little Flower Cadets, Baltimore, MD 89.05
5. Chicago Cavaliers 87.666
6. Belmont Grenadiers, Chicago 87.516
7. Norwood Park (Imperials) 86.983

Note
1. The SAME top three! (Just like now!)
2. The Grenadiers are still there!
3. The (ugh) Cavaliers were still rising.
4. Little Flower Cadets were a small corps from Baltimore with a really good staff. Their moderator, Father Dowling, was a good friend of Rick Maass. I met Fr. Dowling in 1960 .. a great guy!
