CORPS NAME AND YEARS

The website Corps history kind of glosses over the name changes the corps experienced over the years. Maybe some of our alums can help straighten this up.

1. The corps was just the Norwood Park Drum and Bugle Corps for a long time ... taking on the name 'Imperials' in the mid-1950s. Was it 1955?

2. The corps obtained sponsorship of the Billy Caldwell AL Post in what year? Was it 1961?

3. The Imperials moved to Skokie for sponsorship later ... 1970? They were then known as the "Skokie Imperials'.

4. Later they became the Mt. Prospect Imperials. What year was that?

Re: CORPS NAME AND YEARS

Too bad they had to change their name to Skokie, than to Mt. Prospect.

What did you do in the Corps? French Horn

What years were you a Corps member? 1957 thru 1963I

Re: CORPS NAME AND YEARS

actually, I don't think that the corps ever 'changed its name'.

The corps was always 'The imperials drum and bugle corps'... even when they were sponsored by Skokie or Mt. Prospect. They were usually introduced as.. 'the Imperials', FROM (city).

Some announcers (or publications) sometimes said "The Skokie Imperials' or 'the MP Imperials'.

Re: CORPS NAME AND YEARS

Most of us stuck with "Norwood" regardless of where we were located! It just sounded cooler than "Skokie".

What did you do in the Corps? Snare; Drum Major; Drum Instructor/Arranger

What years were you a Corps member? 1970-73; 78-79
