Knights of Columbus Dance

I wanted to express my sincere thanks to Mr. Chito Morales and the Knights organization for hosting the New Years Dance. This event was at St. Elizabeth in Odessa. The crowd was a good size and enthus about dancing. This was my first time to attend their event.
I must also tip my hat on the entertainment. I had never heard of Tejano Express. My understanding is that this gentlemen are educators in music in one form or another. Their music was truly amazing. What talent. They played the tejano music from the late 80's and early 90's. In my opinion, when the tejano scene was really hot.
This band consist of all local people. Only 4 of them but they sounded like 8. If you get a chance, you must try to hear them. The dance floor was always packed with us dancing and singing along. What a wonderful time.

Re: Knights of Columbus Dance

D.T.,
Glad that you had a good time on NYE. I most certainly did not pull this off by myself, I had lots of help from my Brother Knights!.They decorated, cleaned up,made the menudo, sold tickets and even moped the floors!.We had alot of our "regulars" attend this year's party, along with Tejanos from Kermit, Monahans,Big Spring,Midland and Ft. Stockton.
Thanks to everyone who came out to support us, your dancing and behavior was outstanding. We hope to build on this for next year's party. We welcome any suggestions or comments to help and improve our love for Tejano music. And yes, I have already been approached about going back to our most popular "theme" for decorations...DALLAS COWBOYS !

About Tejano Express....
These guys were truly amazing. When they started the night with the "Latin Breed Medley"...people jumped up like they were shot out of their chairs and filled the dance floor. They only had a couple of weeks to prepare, but sounded like they have been together for years. I agree with DT, that you must hear them next time they play for an event. My thanks to Pano Mata, Jimmy & Tommy Olague, and Johnny Saldivar for such a great performance.
I wish all of you a very Happy New Year and lets keep Tejano alive in 2010....see you on the dance floor.

Re: Knights of Columbus Dance

Hey Chito, I'm glad u'r New Year's Eve dance was a success. I hope Tejano Express continues to perform at other functions so I can go check them out.

Re: Knights of Columbus Dance

Thanks Ray...for allowing us to post our dance on YOUR site...I know that it helped to get us a great crowd. Hope that your party in Midland was a success too.
I know that Tejano Express will be playing at another Knights of Columbus event on Saturday,Feb.13,2010. They will be the entertainment for "Casino Night" fund raiser for St. Mary's Catholic School in Odessa. They played there last year...sad to say, there isn't room to dance!. Too many blackjack, and gambling tables to accomadate a dance floor. But, you can at least hear the great music as you roll the dice !!

Re: Knights of Columbus Dance

Chito, I wanted to thank you again for having us play at the New Years Dance. What a nice note from DT. Thank you for the kind words.

We had a blast and glad you liked the music. I haven't been on this website in a while and was surprised with the response. We are looking forward to the Casino Night in Feb. Pano and I will be returning that afternoon from our music convention in San Antonio but know that your event will get our energy going.

DJ Ray, hope to see you there.
