Welcome to the Watchmen On The Wall Forum

Isaiah 62:6

I have set watchmen upon thy walls, O Jerusalem, [which] shall never hold their peace day or night: ye that make mention of the LORD, keep not silence

1 Thessalonians 4:16-18 KJV

For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

Tonight, or any December evening, find the Constellation ORION THE HUNTER.

WHERE IS ORION IN DECEMBER?

Tonight look for the constellation Orion the Hunter. It's a constant companion on WINTER EVENINGS IN THE NORTHERN HEMISPHERE and on SUMMER EVENINGS in the SOUTHERN HEMISPHERE.
Orion northern hemisphere, rises in the east and sets in the west. In December the constellation appears in the night sky at around 8 pm and moves slowly westwards until around 6 am.

As you learn more about the night sky, you've undoubtedly noticed three stars, equidistant from one another, that shine brightly as they pass overhead each night between October and March. These three stars are Orion's Belt, part of the constellation Orion, the Hunter. To many ancient people, the pattern of Orion looked like the figure of a human with an arrow, and the three stars were the belt around the figure's waist. Each star has its own name: MINTAKA, ALNILAM and ALNITAK.

There are several versions of the myth of ORION, THE HUNTER, but one of the more common iterations is that Orion proclaimed himself to be THE GREATEST HUNTER IN THE WORLD, much to the dismay of Hera, the wife of Zeus. She had a scorpion kill him, and Zeus put Orion into the sky as consolation.

REVELATION 6

1 Now I watched when the Lamb opened one of the seven seals, and I heard one of the four living creatures say with a voice like thunder, “Come!” 2 And I looked, and behold, a white horse! AND ITS RIDER HAD A BOW, and a crown was given to him, and HE CAME OUT CONQUERING, AND TO CONQUER.

In GREEK MYTHOLOGY, ORION was a hunting companion of the huntress-goddess ARTEMIS.

NOW, TAKE A LOOK AT THIS "FUNNY" COINCIDENCE:

On NOVEMBER 16, 2022 ARTEMIS 1 finally launched to the Moon, with the mighty SLS rocket, carrying the uncrewed ORION capsule. The capsule lifted off from Kennedy Space Center in Florida at 1:47 a.m. ET. The ARTEMIS 1 mission is set to spend 25 days circling THE MOON before returning to EARTH.

ARTEMIS 1 launch NASA's Space Launch System became THE MOST POWERFUL ROCKET EVER to fly a successful mission.

ARTEMIS 1 ORION CRAFT TO LEAVE MOON ORBIT TODAY.

The valiant, uncrewed ORION MOONSHIP - which traveled farther from Earth earlier this week than any previous craft built for humans - is due to depart its present lunar orbit today (DECEMBER 1.)
You can watch live in this post, or via NASA's livestream on YouTube. The critical 105-second engine burn will come at 21:54 UTC (4:54 p.m. ET) today. The burn will propel the capsule out of lunar orbit and send it hurtling back to Earth, where it's due to splash down in THE PACIFIC, off the coast of San Diego, on DECEMBER 11. Next time they do this, there will be humans aboard!

NASA’s COVERAGE will begin at 21:30 UTC (4:30 p.m. ET).

MOON AND JUPITER CLOSE ON DECEMBER 1

You’ll find the moon and Jupiter hanging close together in the sky after sunset on December 1.
They’ll pair up again before 2022 draws to a close

MOON AND JUPITER BRIGHT THURSDAY NIGHT.

Look for the waxing gibbous Moon after sunset on Thursday, December 1, 2022. Also, the bright “star” near it is really a planet, the largest planet in our solar system, Jupiter. Other than the moon, Jupiter is the brightest object in the sky this month (although red Mars – now near its December 7 opposition is a close second.)

Jupiter reached its opposition on September 26. In December 2022, the king of planets is up all evening and sets around MIDNIGHT.
