When I think of the Canarsie I used to know I become home sick. I used to think quite the opposite growing up. I could not wait to see the world and get out of there. Now well I wish I could afford to live in the neighborhood I love. However when I was a youngster in the late 70s through the 80s I longed for stories from my elders of how Canarsie was and looked. These photos bring those memories alive. I remember one day stating I would return as an archeologist and find and glorify Canarsie's past. Unfortunately, it has not come true for me yet but a Canarsie girl can dream. Thank you for adding this site to internet.
