SAFETY BRIEFING.

  • Wear a helmet. Despite recent advances in medical science, brains still cannot be mended nor replaced.
  • Wear gloves or mitts. Hands often hit the ground first. Cuts and grazes invite infection and a hospital visit.
  • Wear eye protection, it only takes a twig or thorn to lose an eye. Crud catchers are a good idea in mucky weather.
  • When downhilling, for your own protection, allow plenty of space behind the rider in front.
  • Bring a bare minimum emergency tool kit and a spare inner tube.
  • Breakdowns are a bore. Plan not to have any by ensuring your bike is in perfect working order.
  • Punctures are also tedious. You can minimise them by fitting latex tubes, slime tubes or running tubeless tyres.
  • Don't ride too close to the person in front. If they crash into a badger, you'll need time to swerve.

What the actual f...?

Eh?

Re: What the actual f...?

Jacob's Crackers.....who is Jacob? Isn't it unusual that we allocated brand value to a product based on the name of someone that we don't really know about? (more details here http://www.unitedbiscuits.com/our-brands/jacobs/)

I question whether Jacob actually existed, or if he did whether the traditional values have any presence in the modern biscuit. More likely it is just that some marketeers decided that Jacob is a trustworthy "heritage" name that consumers place some nostalgic value on. I doubt "Roy's Crackers" would have become as successful, but I suspect there were many biscuit makers called Roy in the past.

More evidence that we are all just cogs in a big machine........

Re: What the actual f...?

Adrian, i totaly agree with your assesment of the market and the values of heritage names.

but this got me wondering about other common and inocent names from bygone years, and when i thought of crackers and the name Fanny i quite literaly lost all sense of dierction and was sat chuckling for the rest of the day.
