SAFETY BRIEFING.

  • Wear a helmet. Despite recent advances in medical science, brains still cannot be mended nor replaced.
  • Wear gloves or mitts. Hands often hit the ground first. Cuts and grazes invite infection and a hospital visit.
  • Wear eye protection, it only takes a twig or thorn to lose an eye. Crud catchers are a good idea in mucky weather.
  • When downhilling, for your own protection, allow plenty of space behind the rider in front.
  • Bring a bare minimum emergency tool kit and a spare inner tube.
  • Breakdowns are a bore. Plan not to have any by ensuring your bike is in perfect working order.
  • Punctures are also tedious. You can minimise them by fitting latex tubes, slime tubes or running tubeless tyres.

Gripe about gripes

Nige has been griping on the main forum and not on the griping page. Should he be banned?

Re: Gripe about gripes

Yes - I have just banned him. Bloody gripers.

Re: Gripe about gripes

Is that the latex fiasco or the bike trailer crisis? I found the trailer crisis quite amusing actually. The thing with latex tubes is that I just don't care anymore..Another thing I don't care for anymore is contemporary pop music, on the odd occasion that I drive to work I turn on the radio and the music is utter bull shit - some whinging about this or the other, or glamorizing taking prescription drugs because of a grazed knee..but you change channel and its the same bollocks! Invariably I end up on classic fm and breathe a sigh of relief, but then five minutes later realize how irritating classic FM is and go "why the fuck am I on classic fm" and turn my radio off with an aggressive tap of the volume button. I wonder if car radio manufactures have allowed for the effects of shit music and associated aggressive radio turn offs in their specifications.
