SAFETY BRIEFING.

  • Wear a helmet. Despite recent advances in medical science, brains still cannot be mended nor replaced.
  • Wear gloves or mitts. Hands often hit the ground first. Cuts and grazes invite infection and a hospital visit.
  • Wear eye protection, it only takes a twig or thorn to lose an eye. Crud catchers are a good idea in mucky weather.
  • When downhilling, for your own protection, allow plenty of space behind the rider in front.
  • Bring a bare minimum emergency tool kit and a spare inner tube.
  • Breakdowns are a bore. Plan not to have any by ensuring your bike is in perfect working order.
  • Punctures are also tedious. You can minimise them by fitting latex tubes, slime tubes or running tubeless tyres.

John Barleycorn, Duxford

Yet another GK IPA pub beckons, unless I'm mistaken, and true southern ride to boot.

Weather? Potential for one or two showers, but otherwise dry and cool.

Tyre choice? Summer for low rolling resistance (personally, I'll be on Maxxis High Rollers, well worn in)

Attire? Black, black, black like my heart! Cool tonight so long sleeves and bikesters today - I've learned my lesson. May wear 'Star Trek' top.

Conversation? Bikes, football and falling off.

See you out tonight?

Re: John Barleycorn, Duxford

Would it be okay for a newbie to tag along?

(At least as far as Duxford. Being a True Southerner, I'll probably end up making my own way home from there).

Re: John Barleycorn, Duxford

Hi,

As long as you're prepared to talk about football, bikes and falling off, you're welcome.

Re: John Barleycorn, Duxford

i can't risk riding tonight.

i haven't fallen off and i can't stand football so that would only leave bikes and the reason i can't ride....irritated Achillies tendon. not much fun and the idea of having to do a drive by on the pub to hit 4 hours of riding is not too appealing.

may try and use the car but no guarantees. have a fun ride.

See you all laters.
