SAFETY BRIEFING.

  • Wear a helmet. Despite recent advances in medical science, brains still cannot be mended nor replaced.
  • Wear gloves or mitts. Hands often hit the ground first. Cuts and grazes invite infection and a hospital visit.
  • Wear eye protection, it only takes a twig or thorn to lose an eye. Crud catchers are a good idea in mucky weather.
  • When downhilling, for your own protection, allow plenty of space behind the rider in front.
  • Bring a bare minimum emergency tool kit and a spare inner tube.
  • Breakdowns are a bore. Plan not to have any by ensuring your bike is in perfect working order.
  • Punctures are also tedious. You can minimise them by fitting latex tubes, slime tubes or running tubeless tyres.

Mountain Mayhem.

don't know if anyone else has looked at the entered teams but i have just seen something a bit disturbing.

in the sport mixed class, riding for Cambridge CC, riders 1765 and 1766 look a tad familiar.

Also Digby, Gordon and Andrew were on the podium last year in second, and for those who don't know Andrew he was the first placed solo rider at D2D last year.
glad i'm not in that class

Re: Mountain Mayhem.

Luc will need a step ladder to reach the podium! It does look like a pretty rapid team though. Let's just hope it rains to give us real off-roaders a chance

Re: Mountain Mayhem.

Hi Guys,
I am in!!! Team Rhino. Wasn't going this year as I thought I was going to SF with the missus but her trip fell through & my old Uni mate had a rider drop out so see you there in a few weeks!!

Re: Mountain Mayhem.

We will indeed cross the North Sea to compete in Mountain Mayhem. You guys got us really into mountainbiking (guess I have touched my roadbike 5 times in the last year) and we continued here in Nijmegen. Actually Nijmegen is a much better place to ride an off-road bike than Cambridgeshire: Forest, roots, climbs ... everything you don't expect in Holland.

Looking forward to see you all at MM!

Luc and Wendy

Re: Mountain Mayhem.

i don't suppose you or wendy would like to ride with Chris, Rich and myself do you, We appear to have broken Mark and we are looking for a spare pair of fast legs.

maybe you have a fast friend that would like to give it a bash?
