SAFETY BRIEFING.

  • Wear a helmet. Despite recent advances in medical science, brains still cannot be mended nor replaced.
  • Wear gloves or mitts. Hands often hit the ground first. Cuts and grazes invite infection and a hospital visit.
  • Wear eye protection, it only takes a twig or thorn to lose an eye. Crud catchers are a good idea in mucky weather.
  • When downhilling, for your own protection, allow plenty of space behind the rider in front.
  • Bring a bare minimum emergency tool kit and a spare inner tube.
  • Breakdowns are a bore. Plan not to have any by ensuring your bike is in perfect working order.
  • Punctures are also tedious. You can minimise them by fitting latex tubes, slime tubes or running tubeless tyres.

Richards reach round

could you tell Perce and i what pub we are ending at so we can take a vehicle to far to go home on bike for us southerners

Re: Richards reach round

Mark,

At the risk of falling into a trap( ) let me tell you that you are looking for The Dyke's End, a one-time favourite haunt of my parents.

I might join you there, depending upon how the timing goes.

Re: Richards reach round

More to the point, there's only one pub in the village, so if you find a pub other than The Dyke's End, you're in the wrong village!

I have a couple of routes in mind, depending on the turnout and/or weather conditions.

Re: Richards reach round

Should be out tonight.

Re: Richards reach round

About to leave London, may not make it back in time to lead the ride...

Re: Richards reach round

Well I've heard some excuses....

Re: Richards reach round

In case anyone's still listening, I'm back. See you at 7:30pm.

Re: Richards reach round

Great ride, thanks Richard. Lots of bits I've not done before too. Slight knackered this morning after a long time off the bike. Next week I might attempt a hill...

Re: Richards reach round

Yes-ta Richard, a good route-got a bit worried at times as we seemed to be the wrong side of the A14 for a long time-thought we were never going to start heading towards Reach!
