SAFETY BRIEFING.

  • Wear a helmet. Despite recent advances in medical science, brains still cannot be mended nor replaced.
  • Wear gloves or mitts. Hands often hit the ground first. Cuts and grazes invite infection and a hospital visit.
  • Wear eye protection, it only takes a twig or thorn to lose an eye. Crud catchers are a good idea in mucky weather.
  • When downhilling, for your own protection, allow plenty of space behind the rider in front.
  • Bring a bare minimum emergency tool kit and a spare inner tube.
  • Breakdowns are a bore. Plan not to have any by ensuring your bike is in perfect working order.
  • Punctures are also tedious. You can minimise them by fitting latex tubes, slime tubes or running tubeless tyres.

Who's out tonight?

It might be just above freezing for once - mmm bloody cold AND mud. Mud that freezes on the bike, perhaps.

Anyway, I have bike here at work so am pretty likely to be at Brookside at 7.30. Hopefully see some of you there, ideally for a gentle pootle as I am now extremely unfit after not much riding the last couple of months.

Re: QHN

Got to start at 19:40 hrs but either you had all gone, or no one turned up?

Initially intended to meander over to Newton but it was a lot colder than I had expected, so wimped out.

Re: QHN

Missed you by 5 minutes or so I'm afraid Pete. I got there just before 7.30, waited until a few minutes after, feeling like Billy No Mates before setting off on my own, only to have Shelton and Bowesy yell out and catch me up! Close to perfect winter riding conditions we thought, though I bailed after an hour or so, having already informed herself that I would be home for food after all.

Re: QHN

Sorry we missed you posh pete, though great riding condition's ground was hard and super fast, well at least for Bowesy n Paul as I laggged behind like larry loner. Where was everyone tonight what a mild evening and no MUD in sight. Not riding next week so see you at the xmas do.

Re: QHN

Hi Shelton,

I wimped out to get an early night. I was working until after midnight Weds/Thurs and didn't get home from Oxford until 6 pm.

Glad the conditions were good. Ground was still frozen in Over.
