SAFETY BRIEFING.

  • Wear a helmet. Despite recent advances in medical science, brains still cannot be mended nor replaced.
  • Wear gloves or mitts. Hands often hit the ground first. Cuts and grazes invite infection and a hospital visit.
  • Wear eye protection, it only takes a twig or thorn to lose an eye. Crud catchers are a good idea in mucky weather.
  • When downhilling, for your own protection, allow plenty of space behind the rider in front.
  • Bring a bare minimum emergency tool kit and a spare inner tube.
  • Breakdowns are a bore. Plan not to have any by ensuring your bike is in perfect working order.
  • Punctures are also tedious. You can minimise them by fitting latex tubes, slime tubes or running tubeless tyres.

Are we still OK for tonight??

I've had a few people drop out from tonight's Winter Wobble due to colds/flu and the conditions.

Weather forecast is for heavy rain from mid-evening and ground conditions will be muddy, but it is January.

If there is a consensus, I will postpone. Else, we'll go ahead as planned!!

Re: Are we still OK for tonight??

Tom,

I am still up for it. Agree its going to be a bit soggy from mid evening but Tony and I will be in the pub by then......

If only we knew which pub....

Yes - Where does it finish?

Keep with it Pasty. I'm riding tonight.

There are always reasons not to do something. Postponing it for a couple of weeks, there will be other reasons etc...

Stick with it.

Tom R

ps where does it finish?

Re: Yes - Where does it finish?

I fully concur Uncle Tom's comments. Latest Met Office forecast is At 18:00, o/cast, 12 deg C, 8mph wind from SSW. At 21:00, Light rain, 11 deg C, 9mph wind from SSW. At 24:00, Light rain, 11 deg C, 8mph wind from SW.

So defintely an improvement.

Tom, I would like to know pub location by 16:00 so if its a long way from home I can park my van there. I daresay Shelton will be in the same boat - Oh, what an unfortunate phrase

Re: Yes - Where does it finish?

OK - I'm persuaded. Pat is riding as well so that's at least 3 pairs plus Tom (Rich was looking for a partner BTW.

The finish line is at THE TREE, STAPLEFORD.
