SAFETY BRIEFING.

  • Wear a helmet. Despite recent advances in medical science, brains still cannot be mended nor replaced.
  • Wear gloves or mitts. Hands often hit the ground first. Cuts and grazes invite infection and a hospital visit.
  • Wear eye protection, it only takes a twig or thorn to lose an eye. Crud catchers are a good idea in mucky weather.
  • When downhilling, for your own protection, allow plenty of space behind the rider in front.
  • Bring a bare minimum emergency tool kit and a spare inner tube.
  • Breakdowns are a bore. Plan not to have any by ensuring your bike is in perfect working order.
  • Punctures are also tedious. You can minimise them by fitting latex tubes, slime tubes or running tubeless tyres.

Partidge's perch

Anyone out east tonight? Tailwind of 6 mph promised to those parking up at the pub and cycling in to the start. update: Its a side wind :-(

Re: Partidge's perch

Father-in-law still installed in the living room. I'll be out again! Tony

Re: Partidge's perch

Hope to be out - the usual caveat of work may intrude but...

Paul

Re: Partidge's perch

Still with-cold, but will be out tonight, assuming you lot can stand the sight of me coughing up lung-butter at regular intervals! Yuk!

Re: Partidge's perch

Pasty, lung butter is better than arse-butter

i will be out later. i think i should be sociable tonight since it is dry

Re: Partidge's perch

Arse-butter??!! Now THAT would be some cold!

Re: Partidge's perch

Tonight I will be mostly cooking and child minding

Re: Partidge's perch

Alas, central heating woes prevented an appearance - apologies to all. Thanks for Pasty ringing to check I hadnt parked at the wrong pub!

Re: Partridge's perch

Well, I am well and truly fecked - thanks to Pat for shepherding me back those last few miles. I clocked up 29 miles from Brookside which might have been too much given my lack of recent rides and me cold of course!

Re: Partridge's perch

Well I don't know if this is any consolation Tom, but Pete blew up on the way home last night and my legs were screaming when asked to turn the pedals on the way in this morning...

Re: Partridge's perch

Oh, well, I'm glad that I was not alone in feeling crap. So it IS some consolation, thanks.

I remember turning to Pat and saying "Not the Hills Road Bridge! I dunno if I can make it!" I did, of course, have no problem with it.

Strange for winter, I also ran out of drink on the way home.
