SAFETY BRIEFING.

  • Wear a helmet. Despite recent advances in medical science, brains still cannot be mended nor replaced.
  • Wear gloves or mitts. Hands often hit the ground first. Cuts and grazes invite infection and a hospital visit.
  • Wear eye protection, it only takes a twig or thorn to lose an eye. Crud catchers are a good idea in mucky weather.
  • When downhilling, for your own protection, allow plenty of space behind the rider in front.
  • Bring a bare minimum emergency tool kit and a spare inner tube.
  • Breakdowns are a bore. Plan not to have any by ensuring your bike is in perfect working order.
  • Punctures are also tedious. You can minimise them by fitting latex tubes, slime tubes or running tubeless tyres.

3 days in South Wales (29th - 31st April)

I am off to South Wales to ride Afan, Breacon Beacons and cwmcarn for a bit of fun on the last day.

Claire and Ade may join me for a day but I wondered whether any of you guys may wish to join me.

Aim is to travel on Thursday eve and stay in either Cymmer of Glyncorrwg. There a quite a few good bike friendly B&B's around there. I intend to book accomodation pretty soon, so if you are interested, I would like to know this week.

For all those relative newbees who do not know me, nowadays I am the resident stalker who thinks he is a mountainbiker but seems to spend a disproportionate amount of time on a road bike

No seriously, it has been a while since the last Cammtb weekender, a few years back, we seemed to have one every few months.
