DISCLAIMER. MOUNTAIN BIKING CAN BE DANGEROUS. YOU JOIN US AT YOUR OWN RISK.

SAFETY BRIEFING.

  • Wear a helmet. Despite recent advances in medical science, brains still cannot be mended nor replaced.
  • Wear gloves or mitts. Hands often hit the ground first. Cuts and grazes invite infection and a hospital visit.
  • Wear eye protection, it only takes a twig or thorn to lose an eye. Crud catchers are a good idea in mucky weather.
  • When downhilling, for your own protection, allow plenty of space behind the rider in front.
  • Bring a bare minimum emergency tool kit and a spare inner tube.
  • Breakdowns are a bore. Plan not to have any by ensuring your bike is in perfect working order.
  • Punctures are also tedious. You can minimise them by fitting latex tubes, slime tubes or running tubeless tyres.

Busway opening sooner than we thought?

Based on what I saw on a news-stand this morning, better get on it one last time before it's overrun with buses!

Why not sponsor us???

Sponsor Dom and Alison here!

Go on, you know you want to!

Re: Busway opening sooner than we thought?

It's now tarmaced all the way to Swavesey crossing and will probably go a bit further once they have sorted out the bridge and the crappy flooding cycleway/maintenance track between there and St Ives.

The official opening day is set to be 7th August - my 45th birthday. Trust them to spoil a good party.

45...pppppfffff that explains alot !!

Re: Busway opening sooner than we thought?

when i rode back along the "Tarmac" path on thursday it seamed to be missing a bit at Histon.

well when i say missing a bit i realy mean that they had relocated a long trench full of gravel from the side of the path into random piles of gravel across the path, next to the Chivers jam factory at Histon.

is certainly made for an interestng ride home.

next week they are instaling man traps and the pit of doom.

Re: Busway opening sooner than we thought?

The last section to the Railway Station (coming from Addenbrookes) is still blocked off - as I found out this morning when I tried to use it as a crafty route to a 9am meeting in town.
