SAFETY BRIEFING.

  • Wear a helmet. Despite recent advances in medical science, brains still cannot be mended nor replaced.
  • Wear gloves or mitts. Hands often hit the ground first. Cuts and grazes invite infection and a hospital visit.
  • Wear eye protection, it only takes a twig or thorn to lose an eye. Crud catchers are a good idea in mucky weather.
  • When downhilling, for your own protection, allow plenty of space behind the rider in front.
  • Bring a bare minimum emergency tool kit and a spare inner tube.
  • Breakdowns are a bore. Plan not to have any by ensuring your bike is in perfect working order.
  • Punctures are also tedious. You can minimise them by fitting latex tubes, slime tubes or running tubeless tyres.

Hairy Hounds

Anyone up for this one? Could be the first really muddy one of the season?

Re: Hairy Hounds

Fighting off a cold, but I intend to be out. I can always bail out early if I feel too crook to carry on.

PT using the old stalwart from page 1 of the book I see. I hope to be out - am interviewing new domestic staff this evening (page 247) but am aiming to make it.

Re: Hairy Hounds

OMG how Middle Class!! I bet you'll ask for references too, and I bet you weren't allowed to watch ITV when you were a kid! If you're anything like me, anyway....

BTW, I think you'll find my excuse is on page 3, next to the picture of Lucy Pinder. Or is that a chest affection?

Well, to be fair, they could be using epées or sabres! And we don't want any of this...

Re: Hairy Hounds

A legitimate hit! I won my first ever competitive fencing match after getting my opponent in the nuts. His concentration went after that...
