SAFETY BRIEFING.

  • Wear a helmet. Despite recent advances in medical science, brains still cannot be mended nor replaced.
  • Wear gloves or mitts. Hands often hit the ground first. Cuts and grazes invite infection and a hospital visit.
  • Wear eye protection, it only takes a twig or thorn to lose an eye. Crud catchers are a good idea in mucky weather.
  • When downhilling, for your own protection, allow plenty of space behind the rider in front.
  • Bring a bare minimum emergency tool kit and a spare inner tube.
  • Breakdowns are a bore. Plan not to have any by ensuring your bike is in perfect working order.
  • Punctures are also tedious. You can minimise them by fitting latex tubes, slime tubes or running tubeless tyres.

Xmas dinner - food options so please read!

Dear all

After some discussion the other week the consensus was that people were happy to go ahead with the Castle on Dec 13, sorry Richard.

I have obtained a menu similar to last year, which is a 3 course meal for £17.95 per person. The options are

starters.

Soup of the day (V) with bread and butter.
Coarse pork and duck pate with toast.
King prawns in garlic butter with chili and french bread.

mains.

Chicken and spinach lasagne with chips and salad.
Lamb rogan josh with pilau rice, naan bread and salad.
Tuna nicoise salad.
spinach and ricotta cannelloni with salad and garlic bread.

desserts.

Chocolate fudge cake with cream.
Apple crumble with custard.
Cheese and biscuits.

If you intend to attend I would be grateful if you could:

1) let me know by either email, text or replying to this post, and

2) let me have your menu choices

If you could let me know by first thing Friday morning (Dec 9) I will pass numbers and choices onto the Castle. There is no need to pay a deposit.

For those who would like to attend but don't fancy any of the above it will be possible to order food off the conventional menu, but please let me know that you will be attending.

If you have special dietary requirements please talk directly to Matt at the Castle (Cambridge 353194) and he will be able to sort you out. Again, please let me know you will be attending.

Pasty Tom and Big Bad Dom are sorting out the evenings entertainment and will post to let you know the format shortly.
