SAFETY BRIEFING.

  • Wear a helmet. Despite recent advances in medical science, brains still cannot be mended nor replaced.
  • Wear gloves or mitts. Hands often hit the ground first. Cuts and grazes invite infection and a hospital visit.
  • Wear eye protection, it only takes a twig or thorn to lose an eye. Crud catchers are a good idea in mucky weather.
  • When downhilling, for your own protection, allow plenty of space behind the rider in front.
  • Bring a bare minimum emergency tool kit and a spare inner tube.
  • Breakdowns are a bore. Plan not to have any by ensuring your bike is in perfect working order.
  • Punctures are also tedious. You can minimise them by fitting latex tubes, slime tubes or running tubeless tyres.
  • Don't ride too close to the person in front. If they crash into a badger, you'll need time to swerve.

Forest of Dean - early May Bank Holiday

Dear All
I am going to be in the Forest of Dean over the early May Bank Holiday. Does anyone fancy a weekend of camping and riding? There's a decent campsite here:

http://www.campingintheforest.co.uk/our_sites__locations/england/forest_of_dean/bracelands.aspx

Post here if you're interested, and we'll make a plan. Booking of the campsite is recommended at busy times, so I guess we need to act by the end of March.

Also, it's close enough to Afan for a day if you fancy...

Cheers,

Mark

Re: Forest of Dean - early May Bank Holiday

I'll be there....either camping or staying with friends close by depending on how big a crowd we get!

Re: Forest of Dean - early May Bank Holiday

Thanks Tom, for making my post sticky!

So far, little interest. However, myself and Simon will still be there over that (Bank Holiday) weekend, so if you do fancy it, let me know.

Re: Forest of Dean - early May Bank Holiday

Possibly Mark. Have to consult the boss! I see you're selling your roof carrier....

Re: Forest of Dean - early May Bank Holiday

Hi Mark

We've looked carefully at our diary. Two weeks after that bank holiday, we're going to France for some road riding including (we hope) going up Mont Ventoux. Reluctantly, we've decided that we really ought to be trying to do some riding to help prepare us for that, so we're going to give this one a miss.

Later in the year, we'll definitely be up for something somewhere!

Re: Forest of Dean - early May Bank Holiday

Hi Tony. I already have 2 of these excellent carriers on my car. The one I'm selling is a spare which I've never needed.
