SAFETY BRIEFING.
- Wear a helmet. Despite recent advances in medical science, brains still cannot be mended nor replaced.
- Wear gloves or mitts. Hands often hit the ground first. Cuts and grazes invite infection and a hospital visit.
- Wear eye protection, it only takes a twig or thorn to lose an eye. Crud catchers are a good idea in mucky weather.
- When downhilling, for your own protection, allow plenty of space behind the rider in front.
- Bring a bare minimum emergency tool kit and a spare inner tube.
- Breakdowns are a bore. Plan not to have any by ensuring your bike is in perfect working order.
- Punctures are also tedious. You can minimise them by fitting latex tubes, slime tubes or running tubeless tyres.

The East Anglian Air Ambulance are holding a new bike event this year called “Ride for Your Lives” on Sunday 10th June 2012. It is being held at Grafham Water, Cambridgeshire. We are contacting all local bike groups in hope that we may interest some of their members in taking part and at the same time supporting a great charity.
Few people realise that the East Anglian Air Ambulance is a registered charity, which receives no government or national lottery funding. In fact we are totally reliant on voluntary contributions to operate the service.
The East Anglian Air Ambulance now runs two fully medically equipped helicopters (code-named Anglia One and Anglia Two) serving the people of Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Norfolk and Suffolk. Between the two helicopters they are able to provide a life-saving resource reaching patients quickly and if required, transporting them to hospital within minutes. On-going public support is essential to enable us to continue offering this vital service.
