SAFETY BRIEFING.

  • Wear a helmet. Despite recent advances in medical science, brains still cannot be mended nor replaced.
  • Wear gloves or mitts. Hands often hit the ground first. Cuts and grazes invite infection and a hospital visit.
  • Wear eye protection, it only takes a twig or thorn to lose an eye. Crud catchers are a good idea in mucky weather.
  • When downhilling, for your own protection, allow plenty of space behind the rider in front.
  • Bring a bare minimum emergency tool kit and a spare inner tube.
  • Breakdowns are a bore. Plan not to have any by ensuring your bike is in perfect working order.
  • Punctures are also tedious. You can minimise them by fitting latex tubes, slime tubes or running tubeless tyres.
  • Don't ride too close to the person in front. If they crash into a badger, you'll need time to swerve.

Might join you next Thursday ...

Hey you lot,

It's been a while .... how's it going over there?
Turns out I'll be in Cambridge next week for a couple of days, and hopefully will be free Thursday night.
Wondering if someone would be ok lending me a (largeish) bike so I can join you?

cheers (from Houston)
Rich

Does anyone have a spare bike I can ride for Pasty's "It Ain't Over" ride?

Just thought I'd re-post, making my question a little more direct
I'm going to be in Cambridge next Thursday 31st May, and would love to ride - if any of you have a bike I could borrow, pls let me know.

cheers,
Rich

Re: Does anyone have a spare bike I can ride for Pasty's "It Ain't Over" ride?

Hi Rich, I have a 20" Kona hardtail in 'reasonable working order' (not used for two or three months) you're welcome to use it unless you get a better offer. Tony

Re: Does anyone have a spare bike I can ride for Pasty's "It Ain't Over" ride?

Hi Rich,

Not to compete with Tony, but it's always nice to have a second offer to really make you feel welcome. I also have a 20" Kona hardtail that you can borrow. In fact it's fully rigid and 19 years old, which sounds like a good night out in Brighton if you're Graham Norton.

I've already offered one of my other bikes to Dominic, but if he doesn't need it you're welcome to borrow that one instead.

All the best

PT

I have a 15 inch girls full sus with a broken freehub you can borrow, just to make you feel really welcome

Thanks Claire .... but is it pink?

Re: Does anyone have a spare bike I can ride for Pasty's "It Ain't Over" ride?

Hey Tony,

Thanks - that sounds great!
For some reason the reply I typed up on my iPhone never got posted ...
I get in tomorrow morning, and will bring my own pedals, lights + everything else ... I'm staying at the Crowne Plaza hotel ... what's the easiest way to meet up?
Looking forward to a nice slow bimble through the fields, without getting lost ..... oh, and a pint or two at the end won't hurt either

cheers,
Rich

Re: Does anyone have a spare bike I can ride for Pasty's "It Ain't Over" ride?

Rich, email me at work via the link. I live in Chesterton, so not too far from town. took the bike for a bit of a spin the other day, front brakes and gear shifting could be better but I came to no harm....! I normally leave my house about 7.10 to get to the start point. Drop me a line and we'll arrange something. Tony
