SAFETY BRIEFING.

  • Wear a helmet. Despite recent advances in medical science, brains still cannot be mended nor replaced.
  • Wear gloves or mitts. Hands often hit the ground first. Cuts and grazes invite infection and a hospital visit.
  • Wear eye protection, it only takes a twig or thorn to lose an eye. Crud catchers are a good idea in mucky weather.
  • When downhilling, for your own protection, allow plenty of space behind the rider in front.
  • Bring a bare minimum emergency tool kit and a spare inner tube.
  • Breakdowns are a bore. Plan not to have any by ensuring your bike is in perfect working order.
  • Punctures are also tedious. You can minimise them by fitting latex tubes, slime tubes or running tubeless tyres.
  • Don't ride too close to the person in front. If they crash into a badger, you'll need time to swerve.

The Winter Wobble: The aftermath

Well done to everyone who took part. It seemed like everyone enjoyed it, even Charlie and Sam who made it to the pub just as it closed!

Congratulations to Duncan and Emily for a well earned first place even with the puncture stop,Dom and Tom for a creditable second, and Charlie and Sam in third.

Re: The Winter Wobble: The aftermath

Thanks for organising it again, Paul, I think that we all really enjoyed it.

But the ride back was perishing cold!!

Thanks Paul & Emily.... enjoyed that & Well done to the others who braved the cold

Re: The Winter Wobble: The aftermath

Yep cheers for organising!

Next time i'll read the instructions on the back of the map and figure out a way to get more than 0 points!

Evidence of pub visitation came in the form of a stamped and signed bit of paper from the Blue Ball courtesy of various perplexed barman and women. I think we ticked off about 7 pubs and downed 3 whiskeys between us in the end, not much to show for it otherwise!
