SAFETY BRIEFING.

  • Wear a helmet. Despite recent advances in medical science, brains still cannot be mended nor replaced.
  • Wear gloves or mitts. Hands often hit the ground first. Cuts and grazes invite infection and a hospital visit.
  • Wear eye protection, it only takes a twig or thorn to lose an eye. Crud catchers are a good idea in mucky weather.
  • When downhilling, for your own protection, allow plenty of space behind the rider in front.
  • Bring a bare minimum emergency tool kit and a spare inner tube.
  • Breakdowns are a bore. Plan not to have any by ensuring your bike is in perfect working order.
  • Punctures are also tedious. You can minimise them by fitting latex tubes, slime tubes or running tubeless tyres.
  • Don't ride too close to the person in front. If they crash into a badger, you'll need time to swerve.

Plough and Fleece, Horningsea

Anyone out tonight?

We could try the muddy fen route from hell or go via the Roman Road, Fulbourn and Wilbraham Fen.

Actually, they're all muddy, bumpy, hellish routes at the mo.

Re: Plough and Fleece, Horningsea

why not get some of that Lube that is needing to be trialed, then head out to Balsham and back on the roman road, the mud will just fall off.

i shall not be joining you for the fun tonight due to excessive work over commitment. Again!

Re: Plough and Fleece, Horningsea

I'll be out and looking forward to getting well oiled. It's nearly dry enough to sow crops just now so I'm bringing a dust mask.

Re: Plough and Fleece, Horningsea

Tony,

I assume that you won't actually be sowing any crops on the route round tonight? However, if you are, it's a shame that Pat's not out as he could have ploughed a furrow for you when he fell off.

I'm out (and proud) - but Dom you can't have me

Re: Plough and Fleece, Horningsea

I'm fat & loud and hoping to be out!

Re: Plough and Fleece, Horningsea

Looking at our mud today, it seems to be hardening very slightly. So time to venture out again, methinks.

Now, where did I put that arctic clothing?
