SAFETY BRIEFING.

  • Wear a helmet. Despite recent advances in medical science, brains still cannot be mended nor replaced.
  • Wear gloves or mitts. Hands often hit the ground first. Cuts and grazes invite infection and a hospital visit.
  • Wear eye protection, it only takes a twig or thorn to lose an eye. Crud catchers are a good idea in mucky weather.
  • When downhilling, for your own protection, allow plenty of space behind the rider in front.
  • Bring a bare minimum emergency tool kit and a spare inner tube.
  • Breakdowns are a bore. Plan not to have any by ensuring your bike is in perfect working order.
  • Punctures are also tedious. You can minimise them by fitting latex tubes, slime tubes or running tubeless tyres.
  • Don't ride too close to the person in front. If they crash into a badger, you'll need time to swerve.

Last night

Can someone describe the route we took from sawston to fowlmere as I can't figure it out.

Re: Last night

Footpath from sawston Hight Street to Sawston Bypass
Over the railway & on to Whittlesford Mill
Turn right on Whittlesford high Street then left past post office-continue to Hill Farm Road then turn left. turn right onto the drift to Thriplow-over the motorway & on to the muddy bit where I floundered. Left at Thriplow then follow road round to crossroads.
Straight on then when road turns sharp right take track on left heading towards A505.
Turn right halfway along this track & head towards Barn(track not on OS map)
At barn turn right to hrad back to road between Thriplow & Fowlmere.

Good Ride BTW-bit cream-crackered today but nothing a good dose of coffee won't cure!!

Re: Last night

Cheers Rick, I don't remember going through Whittlesford which is what has caused my confusion!
