SAFETY BRIEFING.

  • Wear a helmet. Despite recent advances in medical science, brains still cannot be mended nor replaced.
  • Wear gloves or mitts. Hands often hit the ground first. Cuts and grazes invite infection and a hospital visit.
  • Wear eye protection, it only takes a twig or thorn to lose an eye. Crud catchers are a good idea in mucky weather.
  • When downhilling, for your own protection, allow plenty of space behind the rider in front.
  • Bring a bare minimum emergency tool kit and a spare inner tube.
  • Breakdowns are a bore. Plan not to have any by ensuring your bike is in perfect working order.
  • Punctures are also tedious. You can minimise them by fitting latex tubes, slime tubes or running tubeless tyres.
  • Don't ride too close to the person in front. If they crash into a badger, you'll need time to swerve.

Comberton in the snow

Anyone fancy a pootle?

It will probably be cold possibly with white precipitation if the Met Office are to be believed. At least the ground should be solid, although I'm sure we will be able to find some soft stuff...

Re: Comberton in the snow

There's no snow around here boyy (i think someone must have left the electric mat on)
Yes, I'm in, out, in, out and possibly shaking it all about! (oh dear)

Re: Comberton in the snow

Yep, planning to be out and battle the cold tonight.

Oh, alright then...

Thankfully I made it back to Cambridge station before noticing I had a punture and managed to nurse it home without having to tackle the muddy tyre!!!

Re: Comberton in the snow

Hi Richard, glad you managed to nurse the bike home OK.

I fear I am going to have to clean my bike before I can ride it again, luckily the mud had not set before I left the pub...

Re: Comberton in the snow

The mystery to me is how, when it barely got over freezing during Monday and went down to -3 overnight, it was close to being as muddy as it ever gets last night

Oh well, good ride nonetheless. Just a shame that I've now got to spend an hour cleaning the damn thing again. See you in May...
