SAFETY BRIEFING.

  • Wear a helmet. Despite recent advances in medical science, brains still cannot be mended nor replaced.
  • Wear gloves or mitts. Hands often hit the ground first. Cuts and grazes invite infection and a hospital visit.
  • Wear eye protection, it only takes a twig or thorn to lose an eye. Crud catchers are a good idea in mucky weather.
  • When downhilling, for your own protection, allow plenty of space behind the rider in front.
  • Bring a bare minimum emergency tool kit and a spare inner tube.
  • Breakdowns are a bore. Plan not to have any by ensuring your bike is in perfect working order.
  • Punctures are also tedious. You can minimise them by fitting latex tubes, slime tubes or running tubeless tyres.

Runs list changes

Dear members of the inner sanctom/KKK/Covent & Ronald Macdonald fan club.
After last nights discussions about whether The Red House was a viable destination the six of us felt it no longer was a place to visit! I would like to suggest The Blue Lion at Hardwick for next Tuesday & The three horse Shoes Comberton on the 9th of July.

Also wondering if train out, bike back had been bagged/organised by anyone yet & whether people would actually like to do this or a normal ride?

Re: Runs list changes

Advance notice - my ride on 27th Aug will be a ride out train back, if that makes any difference to whether people want to get a train on 11th (though I would be up for it, I like those rides)

Re: Runs list changes

Hi Duncan,

Regarding the Red House I had a similar conversation last Thurs so I'll make the change (no pun intended!) to the runslist as per your suggestion. The route out there is quite good so perhaps we can incorporate some of the trails, if not the pub.

As to train out/ bike back, this not bagged yet by anyone and I had in mind that you might guide one back from Baldock again. Personally, I enjoy this format as, barring the mudfest we had last summer, they've all been really good. Come to think of it, even the mudfest had it's moments to remember.

So I'd prefer to keep them. The May one didn't happen due to poor weather, I believe.

Re: Runs list changes

Ok, unless anyone else wants to I'll do Baldock or Elsenham on the 18th.
Any preferences.....anyone??

Re: Runs list changes

Baldock!

Re: Runs list changes

There's no need to be rude!

Re: Runs list changes

Given the lack of beer and change in the Red House I wouldn't miss it though it's usually not a bad ride to get there. Anyway, I don't often ride on Tuesdays so my view may be irrelevant. As for the train ride - they have been good in the past and can get in some different trails so I would be keen.
