  • Wear a helmet. Despite recent advances in medical science, brains still cannot be mended nor replaced.
  • Wear gloves or mitts. Hands often hit the ground first. Cuts and grazes invite infection and a hospital visit.
  • Wear eye protection, it only takes a twig or thorn to lose an eye. Crud catchers are a good idea in mucky weather.
  • When downhilling, for your own protection, allow plenty of space behind the rider in front.
  • Bring a bare minimum emergency tool kit and a spare inner tube.
  • Breakdowns are a bore. Plan not to have any by ensuring your bike is in perfect working order.
  • Punctures are also tedious. You can minimise them by fitting latex tubes, slime tubes or running tubeless tyres.

Re: Tonight (Tue)

Only 3 of us last night in the end. No one knew the routes norf, so the Silver Surfer led, with me and Boardman Steve in pursuit.

The Silver Surfer managed to find a pub that served Hogarden (spelt wrong I'm sure) so we settled into the wingbacks by the fire and had a most plesant evening.

This is how I imagine the boys heads are this morning!

Re: Tonight (Tue)

Yes Neil, the Hoegaarden (that's how it's spelt ) definitely had its effect this morning. Thanks again to Silver Surfer for leading the way last night!

Re: Tonight (Tue)

Sorry I was not there Tuesday. I was in North Wales and found this obstacle called Snowdon. As you probably know there is a walking path to the top named Llanberis Path. It is more or less ridable except the I had to shoulder the bike almost haft of the time up. It was quite an experience!

See you on next Tuesday.
