SAFETY BRIEFING.

  • Wear a helmet. Despite recent advances in medical science, brains still cannot be mended nor replaced.
  • Wear gloves or mitts. Hands often hit the ground first. Cuts and grazes invite infection and a hospital visit.
  • Wear eye protection, it only takes a twig or thorn to lose an eye. Crud catchers are a good idea in mucky weather.
  • When downhilling, for your own protection, allow plenty of space behind the rider in front.
  • Bring a bare minimum emergency tool kit and a spare inner tube.
  • Breakdowns are a bore. Plan not to have any by ensuring your bike is in perfect working order.
  • Punctures are also tedious. You can minimise them by fitting latex tubes, slime tubes or running tubeless tyres.
  • Don't ride too close to the person in front. If they crash into a badger, you'll need time to swerve.

Help

Hi everyone !
Could someone set up my gears for me please. I have tried but cannot get them right. Don't really want to take it to station cycles has not best pleased with there work.would like to get out Tuesday for a ride cheers Paul c.

Re: Help

Hi Paul

I'll give it a go if you fancy getting to Brookside 20 minutes early tomorrow, Tuesday.

Is it just changing badly, or is it jumping or slipping? Is it only rear gears or front as well? Are the levers hard to use i.e. needing lots of pressure to operate? Is it noisy some or all of the time? How old is the chain and the rear cassette? How old are the gear cables? Can you change into all the gears (front and rear) or are you unable to get the chain onto biggest and/or smallest cogs?

Questions questions...

Cheers
Dom

Re: Help

Hi dom it's the front gears they go up ok but jump from the top to bottom changing down . The chain and cassette are new and I have just put a new bottom bracket in I will get to brook side a bit early . Cheers dom.
