SAFETY BRIEFING.

  • Wear a helmet. Despite recent advances in medical science, brains still cannot be mended nor replaced.
  • Wear gloves or mitts. Hands often hit the ground first. Cuts and grazes invite infection and a hospital visit.
  • Wear eye protection, it only takes a twig or thorn to lose an eye. Crud catchers are a good idea in mucky weather.
  • When downhilling, for your own protection, allow plenty of space behind the rider in front.
  • Bring a bare minimum emergency tool kit and a spare inner tube.
  • Breakdowns are a bore. Plan not to have any by ensuring your bike is in perfect working order.
  • Punctures are also tedious. You can minimise them by fitting latex tubes, slime tubes or running tubeless tyres.

Wet-ones

Due to the current damp weather trend and the inherent gloopiness of the mire would it be fair to say that we can now officially launch this year's single speed season?

Re: Wet-ones

after slip sliding around in Matt and Jonas' wake last Tuesday at the very least it is time to remove the Racing Ralphs...

Re: Wet-ones

Year, after the ride Paul is referring to I surely see the point of riding single speed and no suspension. At home we have one area with this clay mud, but here it is everywhere

Re: " At home we have one area with this clay mud, but here it is everywhere"

Only if you are on a Duncan route?

Seriously, it would be interesting (to me at least) if one of our soil specialists could define the approximate geographical areas where this exists....?

Re: Wet-ones

I can't answer Pete's query, but I can confirm that Conti Race Kings are out of the question from now on too.
