SAFETY BRIEFING.

  • Wear a helmet. Despite recent advances in medical science, brains still cannot be mended nor replaced.
  • Wear gloves or mitts. Hands often hit the ground first. Cuts and grazes invite infection and a hospital visit.
  • Wear eye protection, it only takes a twig or thorn to lose an eye. Crud catchers are a good idea in mucky weather.
  • When downhilling, for your own protection, allow plenty of space behind the rider in front.
  • Bring a bare minimum emergency tool kit and a spare inner tube.
  • Breakdowns are a bore. Plan not to have any by ensuring your bike is in perfect working order.
  • Punctures are also tedious. You can minimise them by fitting latex tubes, slime tubes or running tubeless tyres.

Cygolight Expilion for Sale, £25

I've upgraded my helmet mounted light, so I'm looking to get rid of this one.

Cygolight Expilion 450
450 (actual) lumens
low-mid-high- boost- strobe modes.

Run times:
1:15hr on boost (which does 450 lumens)
2:00 on high (400 lumens)

The low setting is perfect for commuting, bright enough to see but doesn't dazzle motorists. I've used it for a couple years with a second one we have for MTB in thetford, so the high setting is plenty bright. Has a Swappable integrated li-ion battery (its also replaceable if needed). Includes USB and mains charger, helmet mount, handlebar mount.

This is a reputable brand, no common in the UK, but very popular in US/Canada for a name brand alternative to Exposure and Light and Motion. (I've replaced it with the 800 lumen model)
