SAFETY BRIEFING.

  • Wear a helmet. Despite recent advances in medical science, brains still cannot be mended nor replaced.
  • Wear gloves or mitts. Hands often hit the ground first. Cuts and grazes invite infection and a hospital visit.
  • Wear eye protection, it only takes a twig or thorn to lose an eye. Crud catchers are a good idea in mucky weather.
  • When downhilling, for your own protection, allow plenty of space behind the rider in front.
  • Bring a bare minimum emergency tool kit and a spare inner tube.
  • Breakdowns are a bore. Plan not to have any by ensuring your bike is in perfect working order.
  • Punctures are also tedious. You can minimise them by fitting latex tubes, slime tubes or running tubeless tyres.

One last thread, bikes for sale

Hi all,

In my previous post I forgot to mention that we will have two 2012 Mongoose Maurice single speeds/fixies for sale, preferably in the first week of January, but possibly even next week if someone needs them sooner. We think that about £120 for each should be on the money.

Mine, a medium, has been ridden regularly for commuting but had a new drivetrain (chain, chainring and freewheel) at the end of October. Few changes from stock except a charge spoon saddle, lock-on grips and Schwalbe Durano plus tyres with a good bit of wear left in them (and one of the original thickslicks for a spare). My partner's, a small, has been very lightly ridden, as she studies in London, and is really in near-new condition. Only things changed on that are the grips I believe.

Cheers,
Jason

PS: I can let you know that theives will steal other bikes first even though they are quite nice and were over £400 RRP, as all our mountain bikes were stoled from next to them in Comberton ;) We were broken into again recently, but nothing more taken due to new security measures, but keep your eyes open in Comberton!

Re: One last thread, bikes for sale

Hi Jason,

Are the rear hubs on the maurice 120mm? If so I would be interested as a donor bike for my grass-track racer.

Adrian

Re: One last thread, bikes for sale

Hi,

Hubs are 120mm flip-flop. Also forgot to mention that the medium has surly forks rather than the stock mongoose ones.

Cheers,
Jason
