SAFETY BRIEFING.

  • Wear a helmet. Despite recent advances in medical science, brains still cannot be mended nor replaced.
  • Wear gloves or mitts. Hands often hit the ground first. Cuts and grazes invite infection and a hospital visit.
  • Wear eye protection, it only takes a twig or thorn to lose an eye. Crud catchers are a good idea in mucky weather.
  • When downhilling, for your own protection, allow plenty of space behind the rider in front.
  • Bring a bare minimum emergency tool kit and a spare inner tube.
  • Breakdowns are a bore. Plan not to have any by ensuring your bike is in perfect working order.
  • Punctures are also tedious. You can minimise them by fitting latex tubes, slime tubes or running tubeless tyres.

Whittlesford?

Anyone out tonight? It's looking dry and dusty

Re: Whittlesford?

I’m up for a bit of that.

so, last week my rear brake gave up the ghost and had lots of travel and no power.

last night I attempted to rectify this by bleeding them.

Bleeding Brakes works as a statement and metaphor on so many levels.
the syringe kit I had to “adapt” to work….well it was less than 100% shall we say. I have a small oil slick that covered the calliper, pads, rotor, free hub, spokes, rim, tyre and in no small part the floor and me.
I see tonight going in one of 3 ways.
1) I fixed the break and all is working fine.
2) I didn’t clean the rotor properly and the new pads will not work properly and make lots of noise.
3) The system is over blead and the wheel won’t turn or I go SLOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWW all night.

I’m hoping for 1 but I expect 2 and I’m praying I don’t get 3

Testing on the ride tonight!!!!

Re: Whittlesford?

I'm out tonight, at last. But nearly didn't see this post as my mobile phone goes to the old forum only.
