DISCLAIMER. MOUNTAIN BIKING CAN BE DANGEROUS. YOU JOIN US AT YOUR OWN RISK.

SAFETY BRIEFING.

  • Wear a helmet. Despite recent advances in medical science, brains still cannot be mended nor replaced.
  • Wear gloves or mitts. Hands often hit the ground first. Cuts and grazes invite infection and a hospital visit.
  • Wear eye protection, it only takes a twig or thorn to lose an eye. Crud catchers are a good idea in mucky weather.
  • When downhilling, for your own protection, allow plenty of space behind the rider in front.
  • Bring a bare minimum emergency tool kit and a spare inner tube.
  • Breakdowns are a bore. Plan not to have any by ensuring your bike is in perfect working order.
  • Punctures are also tedious. You can minimise them by fitting latex tubes, slime tubes or running tubeless tyres.

Waterbeach Cycling Campaign

Coinciding with the recent outline planning application for 1600 new homes (10,000 possible in future) on the old barracks land at Waterbeach, a cycling campaign group has been started in the village. Anyone who cycles in the area, particularly to/from the village from surrounding villages and Cambridge itself may be interested in commenting on the planning application.

Waterbeach CC has its own group on Cyclescape and a discussion thread has been started there detailing potential objections and improvements that could be made to the cycling infrastructure in the plans. There are also links to the plans themselves.

https://waterbeachcc.cyclescape.org/threads/3111

The deadline for objections is 10th April, so why not take a look, add your comments, or even join the group if you feel it's relevant?

Cheers,

Richard

Re: Waterbeach Cycling Campaign

Bonjour!

This campaign is really important! Without being dramatic, a cyclivist's life may depend on its success. Please look at the campaign website www.waterbeachcc.com and also follow us on twitter innit @waterbeachcc. (sorry village cricket club - you snooze you.....) Why not also follow @fenduro whilst you are there. 24 September. Will you be ready?

Fensational and Fentastic..at the same time! 2 for 1! not 3 for 2, that is a pure supermarket scam.
